Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged police action against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during a protest in New Delhi over the NEET paper leak issue, accusing the BJP-led Union Government of suppressing democratic rights and resorting to "brutal attacks" on peaceful protesters. Addressing a massive dharna after leading a protest rally from Ambedkar Chowrasta in Kodangal Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister questioned the Centre's handling of the students' agitation and alleged that instead of punishing those responsible for the NEET paper leak, the government had unleashed police action on students and opposition leaders. Revanth Reddy alleged that Rahul Gandhi sustained injuries during the protest and said the Congress leader had "shed blood while standing in support of students." He remarked that the Gandhi family had a long history of making sacrifices for the nation and asserted that the right to peaceful protest was guaranteed under the Constitution framed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The Chief Minister alleged that the NEET paper leak had jeopardised the future of lakhs of students and accused the BJP of failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations. He demanded the dismissal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for strict action against those involved in the alleged paper leak. Claiming that several students were injured during the police action, Revanth Reddy questioned the Centre over reports that some protesters were unaccounted for and accused the government of attempting to silence democratic voices instead of addressing students' concerns.
