Muslims in Hyderabad Also Demand the Cow as National Animal

The gatherings of Muslims in Hyderabad are also scheduled to be held on June 14 to demand the cow as the national animal.

A round-table meeting, jointly organised by the Sufi Ulama Council and the Muslim United Federation, was held on Sunday at the Media Plus Auditorium in Abids, Hyderabad. The meeting concluded with several resolutions, and it was also announced that the next meeting will be held on the 14th of this month at the same venue. The same issue that Muslims in Hyderabad are also demanding is that the cow be declared a national animal.

According to the discussions, participants raised multiple issues related to animal protection and community concerns. Among the resolutions, a demand was made to declare the cow as the national animal. The gathering of Muslims in Hyderabad indicates that the Telangana government should convene a meeting on “Gowrakshak” activities and address related concerns through dialogue and resolution.

Further, the participants appealed to the government to safeguard the lives and property of members of the Qureshi community. Another resolution reportedly urged the immediate closure of all beef export companies. The beef exporters are mostly, or all of them are, non-Muslims, and so are also non-Hindus, if that is to convey the message. However, Muslims in Hyderabad are set to hold yet another gathering on June 14.

The meeting also expressed strong concern over violence carried out in the name of cow protection, stating that the killing of Muslims in the name of the cow is unacceptable. It further demanded a ban on self-styled and unauthorised “cow protection” vigilante groups.

The resolutions were presented on behalf of the All India Sufi Ulama Council and the Muslim United Federation.

The meeting was attended by Maulana Khairuddin Sufi Qadri, President of the Sunni Ulema Council of India; Rahim Ullah Khan Nazi; Mir Inayath Ali Baqri, former SETWIN Chairman and senior BRS leader; representatives of the Qureshi community; various Ulama; and several representatives of NGOs.
