Telangana Police sportspersons delivered an impressive performance
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand on Thursday congratulated the medal winners of the 3rd All India Police Weightlifting Cluster (Weightlifting, Powerlifting & Yoga) 2026–27 held recently at Madhuban, Haryana.
Telangana Police sportspersons delivered an impressive performance at the national-level competition held from May 23 to 27, securing one silver and two bronze medals, bringing pride to the state police department.
The DGP felicitated the medal winners at the DGP Office in Hyderabad and appreciated their achievement despite their demanding official duties. He said it was a matter of pride that police personnel had excelled at the national level and brought laurels to the state, and encouraged them to achieve further success in the future.
In the women’s +84 kg powerlifting category, WPC S. Renuka of CCS Malkajgiri Commissionerate won the silver medal with a total lift of 367.5 kg, including 152.5 kg in squat, 75 kg in bench press, and 140 kg in deadlift.
In the men’s 59 kg powerlifting category, ARPC M. Vamshi, OSD Bhadradri Kothagudem, secured the bronze medal with a total lift of 407.5 kg, showcasing his strong performance at the national level.

In yoga, the Telangana women’s team secured a bronze medal in the Artistic Pair Yoga event. The team included DSP T. Lakshmi (Eagle Force Hyderabad), B. Ratnakumari (Bhadradri Bhadrachalam Police Station), B. Soubhagya (Mahabubabad She Teams), K. Srilatha (Ramagundam Kammanpur Police Station), and K. Rani (Illandu Police Station).
The DGP also appreciated the services of weightlifting and powerlifting coach Ramu and ARSI T. Ramesh, acknowledging their role in training and guiding the athletes. He advised continued efforts to help the sportspersons reach international standards.
Senior officials, including IGP (Sports) Dr Gajaravu Bhupal, Sports Officer Dr R.V. Ramarao, DSPs, and athletes, participated in the programme.
