Nehru Zoological Park Observes World Environment Day

As part of the Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika celebrations, World Environment Day was observed at the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, on Friday, with a mega plantation drive launched to mark the occasion. Mohd Mubeen served as the chief guest, along with J. Vasantha and other officials, at the plantation drive, where saplings were planted in the zoo’s fodder area.

On the occasion, the MLA said that Nehru Zoological Park has been actively creating environmental awareness by observing eco-days, and noted that World Environment Day highlights the importance of protecting and conserving the environment. He also stated that the Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika programme reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare. The Curator said that World Environment Day, observed every year on June 5, aims to raise public awareness. She added that more than 200 saplings were planted on the day as part of the mega plantation drive, making it an exciting and eventful day.

Meanwhile, as part of maintaining law and order in the city, Hyderabad City Police conducted a city-wide special drive titled “Operation Kavach” during the late hours of Thursday night and early hours of Friday, focusing on tampering of vehicle number plates and other related violations.

The police check drive conducted from 10 pm to 12 midnight aims to ensure public safety and demonstrate law enforcement’s commitment to the community.

During the operation, VC Sajjanar personally inspected several checkpoints, including Jubilee Hills, Madhuravani, Borabanda, Sanathnagar, and Ameerpet. He also examined vehicles on the spot and interacted with motorists regarding violations. A total of 12,098 vehicles were inspected across the city, including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and autos.

Later, the MLA and other dignitaries visited various animal enclosures including the Primate Park, Elephant Enclosure, Safari Park complex, Rhino Enclosure, Reptile House, and Nocturnal Animal House.
