Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Calls This Issue a Blow To Democracy
Hyderabad | June 9, 2026: CM Revanth Reddy Strongly Condemns Rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s Nomination, Calls It a “Blow to Democracy”. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly condemned the rejection of Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination in Madhya Pradesh, alleging that it is part of a political conspiracy by the BJP.
The Chief Minister alleged that after what he termed “vote theft” and “SIR issues,” the BJP is now engaging in “seat theft” practices. He stated that Meenakshi Natarajan has no criminal cases pending against her in Telangana and questioned the basis for the rejection of her nomination.
He further alleged that when Congress leaders led by Jairam Ramesh attempted to meet the Election Commission, they were obstructed, and claimed that the nomination was rejected despite the candidate being eligible.
Calling the development an attack on democracy, the Telangana Chief Minister said it amounts to suppression of public voices and described it as a “dark day for democracy.”
He appealed to citizens to condemn the decision and stated that the Congress party will approach the judiciary and continue its fight until justice is delivered.
Meanwhile, Advisor to the Telangana Government Shri Mohammed Ali Shabbir participated in the review meeting held at the Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday to discuss preparations for the month of Moharram. The meeting, chaired by Hon’ble Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, was attended by Hon’ble Hyderabad Incharge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, public representatives from Hyderabad, Chairmen of various corporations Faheem Qureshi, Azmathullah Hussaini, Biyabani Kusroo Pasha, Taher Bin Hamdan, including senior officials and other leaders.
