Summit in Beijing concludes with persistent tensions
The U.S. President Donald Trump have to give up on what was expected as inevitable by his body-language during the summit in Beijing. The U.S. President did not up his ante during his two-day visit to China. He was not sure, but he was saying repeatedly that “you’re a great leader” to the Chinese President.
Trump looked faded, so humble and weak. He can’t make direct eye-to-eye contact to push his words as a challenge for China to accept, which did not happen. He couldn’t say in his usual dominating way, and even with a tone a bit loud and clear.
With the Chinese President Xi Jinping, the U.S. President Donald Trump ended the summit in Beijing, in an unusual fashion. In his two-day visit to China (his first since 2017), both leaders described the meetings positively and Trump to roundup, called upon the summit as “wonderful” and said “fantastic trade deals” later on while Xi hailed a new constructive, strategic, stable relationship.

President Xi explicitly warned President Trump that differences over the Island (which Beijing claims as its territory) could lead to “conflict” or clashes. It remains as the top priority for China. However, Trump has to leave with an undecided major U.S. arms package for the Island, Taiwan.
Focus on the outcome of Summit in Beijing
Discussions over Iran & Strait of Hormuz went nowhere. The issue of the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, ceasefire efforts to reopen the once open and then closed ‘the Strait of Hormuz’. Some signs thinly appeared on curbing support to Iran, but no major breakthroughs announced.
Focus was also on U.S. agricultural/energy exports, rare earths, fentanyl precursors, and tech issues (with U.S. CEOs like Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and Jensen Huang in attendance). However, no sweeping new deals finalized yet, but both sides emphasized stabilizing economic ties.
Xi granted Trump a rare private tour of the Zhongnanhai leadership compound. The summit is seen as a modest step toward managing rivalry rather than resolving core disputes. Not finally, but the summit in Beijing concluded with persistent tensions as Trump departed Beijing on a new low.
This remains as the popular global story from today. The effects on trade, energy markets, and geopolitics, played over and haunting the U.S. President to end with persistent tensions.
