Hyderabad | June 9, 2026: First Monsoon rain brings waterlogging and traffic jams from Osman Jung Road to Mozamjahi Market. There were also serious traffic jams reported in many parts of the new city. Heavy rainfall during the first monsoon spell on Tuesday evening was reportedly too much to begin with. The heavy rainfall led to waterlogging and severe traffic congestion on key stretches between Osman Jung Road and Mozamjahi Market in Hyderabad. There have been no power cuts in Hyderabad, kudos to the electricity department and the government of Telangana. Special thanks to the Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy.

Commuters faced slow-moving traffic as rainwater pooled on roads, disrupting traffic in the busy commercial corridor. It usually takes about 20 minutes to travel 6 km, but it took an hour and a half. Way too much, and people at home, like family members, have to wait for someone to arrive at 6: pm, only to arrive at 7: 30 pm.

However, warm, heated weather with temperatures almost touching 40-45 during the first two weeks of May provided some relief. Cool, less-humid weather delighted people, as there were no power cuts across Hyderabad due to heavy rain. We haven’t had any windy weather so far, and there have been no power cuts in Hyderabad, kudos to the electricity department and the government of Telangana.
