Telangana Government Reaffirms & Azharuddin Supports Urdu Journalists and Urdu language at TUWJF Foundation Day
Hyderabad, August 1: Telangana Minister for Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohammed Azharuddin supports Urdu Journalists and the State Government’s commitment to journalists and the Urdu language on Saturday. He addressed the 10th Foundation Day and Annual Awards Ceremony of the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation (TUWJF).
The programme was held at the Telangana Media Academy in Nampally, Hyderabad. Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir and several dignitaries attended the function. Minister Mohammed Azharuddin described journalism as a noble and responsible profession.

He said journalists serve as the voice of society. He added that ethical journalism strengthens democracy and promotes public trust. The Minister stressed the importance of fair, factual and balanced reporting.
Azharuddin supports Urdu journalists for their dedication to preserving the Urdu language. He said they consistently highlight public issues affecting ordinary citizens. He appreciated their contribution to serving society through responsible journalism.
The Minister said constructive criticism is essential in a healthy democracy. The Hyderabadi and India’s former cricket captain noted that responsible criticism helps governments improve governance.
Azharuddin supports Urdu journalists for preserving the Urdu language
He said it also promotes transparency and better public service delivery. He urged journalists to continue practising responsible journalism. Azhar encouraged media professionals to always work in the larger public interest.
Mohammed Azharuddin supports the Telangana Government’s concern for Urdu journalists. He assured continued efforts to promote and preserve the Urdu language. He also promised support for the development of Urdu in the State.
The Minister congratulated the Federation on completing ten years of service. He praised TUWJF for strengthening Urdu journalism across Telangana. Also congratulated TUWJF President M.A. Majid for his leadership.
He also appreciated General Secretary Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin for his contributions. During the ceremony, several distinguished Urdu journalists received awards. The Minister presented citations, shawls and mementoes to the awardees.
Each recipient also received a cash award of ₹10,000. Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir joined the Minister in presenting the awards. The ceremony recognised outstanding contributions to Urdu journalism. Many journalists, editors and writers attended the event. Media professionals from different districts of Telangana also participated.
Achievements of Urdu journalists
Office-bearers of the Federation were present throughout the programme. The gathering celebrated the achievements of Urdu journalists over the past decade. It also highlighted the importance of protecting linguistic and cultural heritage.
