Hyderabad, July 15: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the foundation stone for Amazon’s Data Centre project would serve as a major catalyst for attracting investment and industry to the proposed Future City, reaffirming the State government’s commitment to making Telangana a global investment destination.

Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Amazon Data Centre, the Chief Minister said the project marks a significant milestone in the Telangana Rising vision and would encourage several other global companies to establish operations in the State.

He recalled that the Telangana Rising Global Summit held in December 2025 attracted around 3,000 corporate representatives from 108 countries, aimed at showcasing Telangana as a preferred investment hub and attracting Fortune 500 companies.

Revanth Reddy said the State has set an ambitious target of transforming Telangana into a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047 under the Telangana Rising-2047 vision. He said the government also aims to increase Telangana’s contribution to India’s GDP from the present 5 per cent to 10 per cent, complementing the national objective of making India a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047.

CM Urged Amazon to Further Expand

The Chief Minister said investments and employment generation are the two key pillars for achieving these goals. He assured investors that the government is ready to provide all necessary infrastructure, approvals and policy support for industrial development.

Urging Amazon to further expand its presence in Telangana, he expressed confidence that the company would make investments worth ₹1 lakh crore by 2034. He also announced that the State government would hold monthly review meetings to monitor the progress of Amazon’s investments and industrial projects.

The CM Revanth Reddy said the government has adopted the Telangana Rising Policy Framework with sector-specific policies for industries, tourism, energy, healthcare and sports. He added that the Young India Skill University has been established to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and meet future employment demands.

He observed that investments by global companies such as Amazon create an ecosystem that attracts more industries and generates large-scale employment opportunities.

CM Revanth Reddy on Hyderabad’s Development

Highlighting Hyderabad’s strengths, the Chief Minister said the city has emerged as a global destination with world-class infrastructure, including the Outer Ring Road, a robust IT and pharmaceutical ecosystem, and an international airport. He noted that nearly 1.34 crore people live within the Outer Ring Road and stressed the need to create more employment opportunities while ensuring sustainable and pollution-free urban development.

He said the government is focusing on relocating polluting industries, rejuvenating the Musi River, and expanding the Hyderabad Metro Rail network as part of its long-term urban development strategy.

The Chief Minister announced that the government is preparing plans to convert the State’s RTC bus fleet into electric buses and retrofit nearly two lakh diesel-powered autorickshaws into electric vehicles. He said the government has completely waived registration tax on electric vehicles, despite foregoing nearly ₹1,500 crore in annual revenue, to promote clean mobility and reduce pollution.

The CM Revanth Reddy said the government is determined to ensure that Hyderabad does not face the pollution-related challenges seen in several other major cities across the country. He added that Telangana has been strategically divided into Cure, Pure and Rare development zones for balanced and sustainable growth.

For Farmers

Expressing gratitude to farmers who parted with their land for infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road and radial roads, the Chief Minister said their contribution would always be remembered. He directed officials to resolve pending issues, provide fair compensation and ensure that families who surrendered land receive adequate livelihood opportunities.

He also asked Minister D. Sridhar Babu and former MLA K. Laxma Reddy to hold discussions with agitating farmers and address their concerns through dialogue, adequate compensation and employment support.

Concluding his address, CM Revanth Reddy urged Amazon to further expand its operations in Telangana and become a long-term partner in the State’s growth and development journey.
