Hyderabad, July 17: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the Telangana Government has launched the New Employees Health Scheme (EHS) to provide comprehensive, cashless healthcare to government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members.

Along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, the Deputy Chief Minister, formally launched the scheme at the State Secretariat and distributed health cards to beneficiaries.

Bhatti Vikramarka said the scheme will benefit around 8 lakh government employees and pensioners, besides 29.80 lakh dependent family members, by offering completely cashless inpatient treatment through a network of 886 empanelled private hospitals across the State.

He stated that the scheme provides coverage for 1,816 medical and surgical procedures under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) package rates. To ensure transparency and efficient implementation, a dedicated trust comprising government officials and representatives of employees’ associations has been constituted.

How New Employees Health Scheme Benefits

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government introduced the scheme with a humanitarian approach to ensure that employees do not fall into debt due to medical expenses. He also said the government is clearing nearly ₹10,000 crore worth of pending medical reimbursement bills that had accumulated over the previous decade.

Appealing to employees to work with greater commitment, Bhatti Vikramarka said government staff are the bridge between the administration and the people, and play a vital role in effectively implementing welfare programmes such as fine rice distribution, free bus travel for women and free electricity schemes. He urged employees to actively contribute, delivering these initiatives to the people.
