HYDERABAD, July 20: The first meeting of the Telangana Legislative Council Petitions Committee was held on Monday in Hyderabad. The meeting took place at the Conference Hall of the Telangana Legislative Council. It marked the beginning of the committee’s work for addressing public petitions. Senior political leaders and legislative officials attended the important meeting.

Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy participated in the meeting. Deputy Chairman and Petitions Committee Chairman Banda Prakash was also present. Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu attended the session. MLCs Dasoju Sravan, Rahmath Baig, Damodar Reddy and Prof. Kodandaram also participated. Telangana Legislative Council Secretary Dr. Narasimha Charyulu attended the meeting. Legislative Assembly Secretary R. Tirupati and senior officials were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Gutha Sukender Reddy described the Petitions Committee as the “voice of the people.” He said the committee plays an important role in democratic governance. Also, he urged members to work with dedication and responsibility. He stressed the need to process public petitions without unnecessary delays. He said timely disposal of petitions would strengthen public confidence in the legislative system. Also, he encouraged members to remain committed to protecting people’s interests.

Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu highlighted the government’s commitment to legislative functioning. He said both Houses were functioning smoothly and effectively. Further, he added that there was no discrimination between the treasury and opposition benches. He said the government had constituted all pending legislative committees. Also, he stressed that petitions should follow the prescribed legislative format. He explained that only properly submitted petitions would be considered. He also said committee service provides valuable administrative and legislative experience. Such experience, he noted, helps public representatives understand governance more effectively.

Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the committee. He described the responsibility as a great honour. He assured members that he would perform his duties sincerely. Also, he promised to work with commitment and transparency. Further, he thanked the Speaker for extending continuous support. He also thanked the Council Chairman and the Legislative Affairs Minister. Also, he appreciated their efforts in ensuring the smooth functioning of the House. He expressed confidence that the committee would effectively address people’s grievances through a transparent and accountable petition process.
